American RV Rental Policies

 

Rental Requirements  Renter (Customer) must possess a valid driver's license and be at least 25 years of age.  Renter must also present a major credit card in Renter's name to secure all rental charges and deposits.  Any additional drivers must also present a valid driver's license and be at least 25 years of age.  All drivers must be listed on and sign the Rental Agreement.  Proof of insurance must be provided on all authorized drivers.

American RV will provide a mandatory instructional walk through with all Renters listed on the Rental Agreement at the time of departure.

Reservation/Security DepositReservation Deposit is paid in advance to reserve RV and cover the insurance deductible.  The deposit is refunded within three (3) business days if the RV is returned as it was delivered to Customer:  clean interior and exterior, full of gas,  holding tanks empty and free of any damages to the interior or exterior.  All charges will be placed on a credit card in the Renter's name.  Cash, checks and bank debit/credit cards are not accepted.

 Folding Trailers  $1000 deposit
 Motor Homes    $1000 deposit

Insurance Rates:  Insurance is required and must be purchased by the Customer through American RV.

 Folding Trailers  $7.00 per day
 Motor Homes    $23.00 per day

COST OF ANY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BROKEN OR MISSING ITEMS ON UNIT, WILL BE DETERMINED BY AMERICAN RV SERVICE OR COLLISION CENTER.

Cancellation Fee:   If the reservation is cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled departure date, the entire deposit is nonrefundable.  However, Customer may reschedule the trip and the deposit will apply.

RV Condition at Time of PickupGas tank full, LP tank full, wastewater holding tanks empty and interior and exterior clean.

RV Return PolicyRental units must be returned as scheduled.  Note that there are no drop offs of rental units processed on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.  Unauthorized extensions will be charged at twice the unit's equivalent daily rate for each day or portion thereof that the unit is returned after the scheduled time.  There are no refunds or credits on early returns.

The rental unit must be returned in the same condition listed above (gas tank full, holding tanks empty and clean inside and out) or the fees listed below will be charged against the deposit.  The determination as to the condition of the unit upon return shall be within the sole discretion of the Lessor.

 Cleaning Charges:

 Folding Trailers:  Interior  $50.00 / Exterior  $50.00
 Motor Homes:   Interior  $100.00 / Exterior  $100.00
 Dump Holding Tanks:  $30.00 per tank
 Pet Odors
:  $100.00
 Smoke Odors:  $100.00

 Miscellaneous Charges:

 Charge for missing sewer hose, water hose or water regulator:  $15.00 each
 Lost Keys:  $25.00 per set
 Lost Crank Handle:  $15.00 each
 Fuel Charges: $15.00 refueling fee plus cost of fuel
 

 Mileage Charges:

Excess mileage over the stated allowance will be deducted from the deposit.  The stated mileage allowance is 100 miles per day.  Excess mileage (all miles in excess of the allowed 100 miles per day) is charged at $ .30 per mile.


Generator Charges:

All motor homes are equipped with generators.  It is not necessary for normal vehicle operation to use the generator.  If the Customer chooses to use the generator, a charge of $2.50 per hour applies.  This will be calculated upon return of the rental unit and any charges will be deducted from the deposit.

ALL APPLICABLE CHARGES WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE DEPOSIT.


Maintenance Requirements:  Customer is required to maintain fluid levels in the engine and the generator, and air pressure levels in the tires.  All accidents or incidents of theft or vandalism must be reported to the proper law enforcement authority immediately and to American RV as soon as practicable, but in any event, within 24 hours of the incident.  Customer must provide American RV with a copy of the accident or incident report prepared by the law enforcement authority that responded to the accident or incident.  In the event of theft, Customer must return the vehicle keys to the Lessor. 

24 Hour ServiceAmerican RV provides RV Rental Roadside Assistance from Coach-Net on every rental.  Trained technical service agents are available at a toll free number 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist with questions or problems the Customer may have.  Coach-Net's service agents have backgrounds in the RV and chassis industries and thus are uniquely qualified to diagnose problems.  Depending on the nature of the problem, Coach-Net may walk the Customer through correction of the problem via telephone, send a technician to correct the problem, or send the Customer to an RV dealership in the area for assistance.  Lessor will reimburse Customer for necessary repairs to the rental units as determined by RV Rental Roadside Assistance that were not caused directly or indirectly by the misuse, carelessness or negligence of the Customer.  No credit will be given to the Customer unless replaced parts and all receipts for repairs are returned to the Lessor.  Lessor is not responsible for inconvenience nor emergency lodging, telephone calls or any other incidental expenses necessitated by breakdown or repairs.

Note that the malfunction of items including but not limited to radios, cruise control, air conditioners, generators, refrigerators, TVs, and microwaves does not constitute a mechanical breakdown.  Lessor will not compensate Customer for the failure of these items to work properly, nor will Lessor necessarily pay to have them repaired while the Customer has the unit.  Lessor is renting time in a motor home, not the guarantee of risk free travel.

SmokingNo smoking is allowed in rental units.

PetsNo pets are allowed in rental units.

Roof AccessAccess to vehicle roof is forbidden.  Ladders on rental units are for use by American RV personnel only.  Customers are responsible for any roof damage caused by violation of this policy.

TowingNo towing is allowed on American RV rental units.

Travel RestrictionsVehicles may not be driven through an underground or underwater tunnel.  Vehicles are restricted from use in Manhattan, New York at any time, and from desert areas in hot weather.  These restrictions are due to the presence of propane on the units.

Vehicles are not allowed in Mexico.

General Requirements:  Customer agrees not to drive in a careless or negligent manner, nor drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor permit operation of the vehicle by any person except those signatory to this agreement.  Customer further agrees not to use, or permit use of the unit for unlawful purposes.  Customer will hold Lessor harmless from any and all fines, forfeitures and penalties incurred during the rental period caused directly or indirectly by negligence, misuse or carelessness.  Customer further agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Lessor from and against any and all claims for loss of, or damage to property, or injury to persons (including death) resulting from the use, operation or posession of the rented unit.

Customer acknowledges the receipt of instructions on the operation, use, and maintenance of the vehicle, including the operation and safety precautions connected with the bottled gas installations and appliances, and is thoroughly familiar with the same.  Customer further acknowledges that the rented vehicle is  _____ feet wide and _____ feet tall and the Customer shall be fully liable for any damage to the rented unit that results from a collision with a structure due to insufficient clearance, whether height or width.

Customer understands that the number of passengers who may lawfully travel in a motor home is limited to the number of seatbelted seats in the motor home.  Customer agrees to abide by this limit.

Customer expressly agrees to indemnify and hold Lessor harmless from and against any and all losses, damages, attorney's fees and/or liability in connection with Lessor's efforts to enforce the terms of this contract.  In the event that a suit is instituted by the Lessor to enforce any of the terms, conditions and/or provisions of this agreement, Customer  agrees to pay all costs and reasonable attorney's fees of the Lessor in connection therewith.  Jurisdiction and venue for any legal action in connection with this Rental Agreement shall exclusively be the State of Mississippi, County of DeSoto.
